Steven Taylor Hooven

Steven Taylor Hooven is a committed attorney at The Derrick Law Firm in South Carolina, focusing on personal injury and worker's compensation law. After earning his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2016, Taylor began his legal career as an associate at a prominent defense firm in Augusta, Georgia. There, he gained valuable experience defending insurance companies and their clients in car accident and medical malpractice cases. This early exposure to defense law gives him a unique perspective when advocating for his clients.

Taylor's ambition was always to practice law in South Carolina. When the opportunity arose at The Derrick Law Firm to represent individuals harmed by negligence and workplace accidents, he eagerly accepted. At the firm, Taylor is dedicated to guiding clients through complex legal processes, fiercely protecting their rights and seeking justice against those responsible for their injuries.

Originally from Evans, Georgia, Taylor grew up near the South Carolina border. He graduated from Evans High School and then attended The University of Georgia, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in English. His academic excellence continued at the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he graduated cum laude in the top ten percent of his class. His academic achievements earned him membership in the prestigious Order of the Wig and Robe and Order of the Coif honor societies.

During law school, Taylor discovered his passion for courtroom advocacy as a member of the USC Mock Trial Team. He traveled nationwide with talented teammates and coaches to participate in mock trial competitions. These experiences solidified his determination to become a persuasive courtroom advocate, a skill he now applies to benefit clients at The Derrick Law Firm.
