Mark Krogstad

Mark Krogstad, a native of Willmar, Minnesota, is a dedicated Trusts and Estates attorney serving clients in South Dakota and Minnesota with Davenport, Evans, Hurwitz & Smith, LLP. After graduating from Augustana University, Mark furthered his expertise with a Master’s Degree in Taxation from the University of Florida, before joining the firm. His practice areas include estate planning, business succession planning, tax planning, charitable gift planning, and estate and trust administration.

Mark offers comprehensive services to his clients, including drafting wills, durable powers of attorney, and a variety of trusts such as revocable living trusts, dynasty trusts, and grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs). He also assists with planning and implementing gift, estate, and generation-skipping (GST) transfer tax strategies to ensure wealth preservation across generations. Additionally, Mark prepares federal and Minnesota estate tax returns and facilitates the transfer of closely-held business interests, including those in farming and ranching.

In his practice, Mark also drafts prenuptial and antenuptial agreements and handles probate matters and estate administration. He is experienced in trust administration, including modifications and decanting.

Mark is actively involved in the community and professional organizations. He is a member of the Sioux Falls Estate Planning Council, the State Bar of South Dakota, and the Minnesota State Bar Association. He also contributes to the community as a professional advisor to the Planned Giving Council for Sioux Empire United Way and serves on the Board of Directors for the National Kidney Foundation Serving the Dakotas.

Outside of his professional life, Mark is a member of Peace Lutheran Church and enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing with his wife and two daughters.
