Matthew Van Heuvelen

Matthew Van Heuvelen, a partner in the business law section at Davenport Evans, is a distinguished attorney licensed to practice in both South Dakota and Iowa. He provides legal services in dynasty trusts, trust administration, business transactions, estate planning, probate, tax planning, and fiduciary litigation. His clientele spans individuals, families, trustees, bank trust departments, trust companies, financial advisors, businesses, and charitable organizations.

Matthew is an active member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of South Dakota, the Iowa State Bar Association, and the Sioux Falls Estate Planning Council. His academic background includes serving as an Articles Editor for the Journal of Corporation Law and working as a Research Assistant during his time at the University of Iowa College of Law. He completed his undergraduate studies at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, where he has also contributed as an adjunct faculty member teaching business law.

A graduate of Leadership Sioux Falls, Matthew is committed to community service, holding a position on the Board of Directors for the Dow Rummel Village. He is actively involved in his church and enjoys quality time with his wife, Kaylene, and their daughters, Katie and Haylie. A passionate sports fan, he supports the Iowa Hawkeyes, Atlanta Braves, and Green Bay Packers.
