George Jordan Phillips

George Jordan Phillips focuses his legal practice on corporate and business law, communications law, labor and employment law, and commercial and business litigation. He possesses extensive experience in negotiating significant business acquisitions and complex commercial transactions, including international contract negotiations. George serves as general counsel for several companies lacking in-house counsel.

In his role, George acts as a versatile legal advisor for a national pet supply company, a regional mortgage company, a solar equipment manufacturer, and a remediation company. He manages their contracts, compliance, regulatory issues, liability claims, and litigation matters. From the firm's Sumner County office, he also provides business and legal guidance to growing local businesses and companies considering relocation to Middle Tennessee.

Before joining Bone McAllester Norton, George spent a decade as general counsel and senior vice president of a national home shopping network, which was later acquired by a national communications company. In this role, he negotiated and coordinated major transactions, securities offerings, and the purchase and sale of television stations nationwide. He also administered SEC and corporate compliance programs, ensuring truthful sales and pricing claims under FTC regulations. Notably, the network was not targeted by FTC actions due to his efforts. George also has substantial experience in labor and employment matters, having overseen the human resources department and administered the company's stock option plan. In his capacity as general counsel, he successfully managed over 60 lawsuits to conclusion.
