Andrew Timothy Shilling

Andrew Timothy Shilling has built a distinguished career as an attorney, rooted in a strong academic foundation from the College of William and Mary, where he graduated with honors in Government in 1988. He furthered his legal education at the University of Richmond Law School, earning his J.D. in 1991. During his time there, Andy excelled in moot court and trial competitions, showcasing his advocacy skills early on.

After passing the Virginia bar in 1991, Andy began his legal career at a major national law firm in Norfolk, focusing on defending large corporations and insurance companies. Seeking a more personal approach to law, he transitioned to a smaller firm, allowing him to concentrate on serving individuals and families. In 2000, Andy founded his own practice, Shilling & Barlow, in Chesapeake, Virginia, which flourished into a successful law firm.

In 2007, Andy expanded his practice by passing the North Carolina bar, enabling him to represent clients in both Virginia and North Carolina. He has appeared in trial courts across both states and has argued cases before the Virginia Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Court of Appeals, and the Virginia Supreme Court. His federal court experience includes appearances at the trial level and on appeal, notably arguing before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States.

In 2021, Parks Zeigler provided Andy with the opportunity to open a new office in North Carolina, expanding the firm's reach into his home state. He is enthusiastic about leading the firm's newest location in Elizabeth City, while continuing his practice in Virginia from the Chesapeake office.
