Daniel J. Krause

Daniel J. Krause is the founder of the Krause Estate Planning & Elder Law Center and has been serving families in estate planning and administration since 1999. His military background as a retired Army Major and JAG Officer complements his expertise. He holds the prestigious certification of Estate Planning Law Specialist from The Estate Law Specialist Board, Inc.

In collaboration with Nelson Donovan, Dan co-authored _Estate Planning in Wisconsin: Privacy, Protection and Taking Control_, a 2017 publication designed to demystify estate planning for the layperson. The book covers essential topics like wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.

Dan is committed to education, having taught public classes and lectured on estate planning law to both civilian and military legal professionals. His contributions extend to drafting expertise for four major national attorney library packages.

He earned his law degree from NYU Law on scholarship in 1999, alongside an M.A. in Philosophy from the same institution. His diverse background includes roles as a US Army Medic, a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kenya, and a local Board of Education member.

Dan is actively involved with the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Wealth Counsel, Elder Counsel, and the State Bar of Wisconsin's Elder Law Section and Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section. He is licensed to practice in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, and various federal and tribal courts in Wisconsin.
