Stephen Michael Miller

Stephen Michael Miller is a distinguished partner in the Bankruptcy and Creditors' Entitlements Group at Morris James. With more than three decades of experience, he has established himself as an authority in high-value bankruptcy, creditors' rights, business, and transactional law. Steve previously led the group as its chair for 20 years, demonstrating his leadership and expertise.

Steve is highly regarded by both clients and peers for his proficiency in bankruptcy and restructuring. He represents a diverse array of clients including asset purchasers, trustees, debtors, creditors' committees, and both secured and unsecured creditors. His clientele spans landlords, equipment lessors, financial institutions, intellectual property licensors, franchisees, indenture and owner trustees, and vendors involved in complex Chapter 11 reorganizations. Additionally, he defends parties in adversary proceedings, including preference and fraudulent transfer actions.

Beyond bankruptcy, Steve provides strategic assistance to creditors enforcing their rights against debtors through mechanisms like foreclosure, replevin, garnishment, execution, and levy. In his transactional practice, he handles financing and franchising, with a particular focus on Delaware business entities such as limited liability companies and limited partnerships. Steve also acts as Delaware counsel in both domestic and international transactions, including aircraft financing and real estate deals.
