About Catherine Cornell

Catherine Cornell, the founder and principal litigation attorney, is devoted to securing veterans and their families the benefits they are entitled to. Her passion for veterans' advocacy began during her college internship at CNN in Washington, DC, where she researched a story on homeless veterans. After earning a master's degree in journalism, Catherine gained valuable experience in TV broadcasting before transitioning to a legal career.

Following law school, Catherine worked as a litigator at the Judicial Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago, now known as Litigation Aid Chicago, for over five years. During this time, she provided legal assistance to some of Chicago's most underserved residents. She briefly served as an editor for the journal published by the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law before joining a law firm to focus on veterans' compensation claims.

Motivated by the challenges faced by veterans and their families in navigating the complex VA system, Catherine established her own law practice dedicated exclusively to VA benefits. She manages cases at all levels of appeal, from the regional office to the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. Her commitment to veterans is also personal, as her father served honorably in the U.S. Air Force.

Beyond her law practice, Catherine is an active board member of the Veterans Legal Aid Society and a sustaining member of the National Organization of Veterans' Advocates. In her personal time, she enjoys biking, spending time with her family, reading, hiking, baking, and playing with her rescue dog, Rosie.
