Brian Thomasson

Brian A. Thomasson, Esq. is a distinguished attorney practicing in Hampton Roads, Virginia, since 1998. He earned his law degree from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1997 and was initially licensed to practice in Ohio. Upon returning to Virginia, he obtained his license to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia. In 1999, he was also admitted to the District of Columbia bar by the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.

His practice encompasses a wide range of areas including domestic relations law, personal injury, wills and estates, trust matters, criminal and traffic defense, and he is dedicated to representing children as a Guardian ad Litem. In recognition of his work in this role, he was selected to attend the Parent Seminar in Washington, D.C., hosted by the American Bar Association in 2015.

Brian's legal acumen has been acknowledged through numerous accolades. In December 2016, he was named one of Virginia's Legal Elite by Virginia Business, a nomination made by his peers across the state. The following year, he was included in the prestigious Super Lawyers group, a testament to his professional excellence as recognized by fellow attorneys. Additionally, he was honored by Coastal Virginia Magazine as a Top Lawyer in multiple categories: Adoption, Marital and Family Law, Civil Trial Law, and Criminal Defense. In 2017, his firm, Brian A. Thomasson, P.L.C., was celebrated in the Coastal Virginia Business Magazine's Best of Business Awards, winning both Silver for Best Law Firm and Gold for Best Small Business.

Beyond his legal practice, Brian is a published author, contributing to The Journal of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, with his work also being reprinted in another jurisdiction. In his personal life, he is an accomplished martial artist, holding black belts in American Freestyle Karate and Shorin Ryu, and has achieved multiple martial arts competition victories, including a Grand Championship.
