Tips for an accurate diagram
- Draw what you saw, not what you assume. If you don't know a detail, leave it out.
- Put an arrow behind each vehicle to show its path before impact, and mark where each car came to rest.
- Label your vehicle "A" and match the labels used in your written statement.
- Add the street names, date and time in the notes box so the image stands on its own.
Attach the diagram to your notice of claim, and compare it with the officer's drawing in the police report.
Frequently asked questions
›Why draw a crash diagram?
Insurance claim forms and many state crash report forms ask you to sketch what happened. A clear diagram showing lanes, directions of travel and the point of impact helps an adjuster understand your account quickly.
›Is the diagram accepted as evidence?
It's your own illustration, not an official reconstruction. It supports your written statement, photos and the police report, but it doesn't replace them.
›Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Drag items with your finger, rotate them with the slider, then download the PNG.
›Is my diagram uploaded anywhere?
No. The drawing and the image file are created entirely in your browser.
›What should I include?
Each vehicle with a label, its direction of travel, lane positions, traffic controls (signs or lights), the point of impact, and short notes with the location, date and time.
